How this works

Every organisation that budgets on a non-calendar fiscal year eventually needs to answer one question fast: "if today is this calendar date, which fiscal month and quarter does it fall in?" This tool answers that instantly for any of the 25 countries in our directory, using the same fiscal-year start dates and naming conventions published on each country's fiscal year page — so the answer here always matches the calendars elsewhere on this site.

The fiscal month (FM1–FM12) is counted from the country's fiscal year start month. The fiscal quarter groups three consecutive fiscal months (FM1–FM3 is Q1, and so on). The fiscal year label follows each country's own naming convention: some countries name a fiscal year after the calendar year it starts in (the United Kingdom, Canada, India), others after the calendar year it ends in (the United States, Australia, Thailand). See our guide to fiscal quarter conventions for the reasoning behind each.

This calculator runs entirely in your browser — no date you enter is sent anywhere. If you need the full printable calendar for the resulting fiscal year, follow the link in the result panel through to that country's fiscal year page.

Note on the UK: The United Kingdom's fiscal year technically starts April 6, not April 1, for personal tax purposes (April 1 for government accounting). This tool buckets by calendar month like the rest of the site, so April 1–5 is still shown as UK fiscal month FM1 — see the United Kingdom fiscal year page for the exact day-level boundary.
